What is the St. Patrick’s Festival Parade?

The Parade is the heart of Killarney’s St. Patrick’s Festival, filling the streets with colour, music, and creativity. Local community groups, performers, and visiting troupes come together to celebrate the 2026 theme, Echoes of Killarney Future. Expect imaginative floats, lively performances, surprises, and shared laughter for all ages.

When and where does the Parade take place?

The Parade takes place on St. Patrick’s Day, starting at 2pm on Mission Road and travelling along East Avenue Road, College Street, Plunkett Street, Main Street, and New Street, finishing in the car park on Beech Road.

What is “Greening” in Killarney?

From 10th to 26th March, Killarney goes green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Festival. Buildings, landmarks, hotels, shops, restaurants, and pubs are illuminated in vibrant green. Notable locations include St Mary’s Cathedral, the Franciscan Friary, the Methodist Church, the Courthouse, the Fusiliers, Christ the King Mission Road, Killarney Garda Station, and Ross Castle. Each year, the community votes on Facebook to choose Killarney’s Best Greened Building.

How do I get to Killarney for the Festival?

By Air: Kerry Airport is 15 minutes away with flights from London Luton & Stansted and Frankfurt-Hahn. Other airports: Cork (1hr), Shannon (1hr 45min), Dublin (4hr).

By Train: Killarney is on Ireland’s main rail network. Visit irishrail.ie for timetables and tickets.

By Bus: Bus Éireann serves Killarney, with the main depot near the town centre.

By Car: From Dublin: 3hr 30min, Cork: 1hr 30min, Shannon: 1hr 45min.

Where can I park during the Parade?

Free parking is available from 1pm to 4.30pm at:

  • Penney’s Car Park (normally €3 per day)
  • St. Brendan’s College Secondary School
  • St. Oliver’s National School

Stewards will be on-site to guide visitors. Please avoid Beech Road Car Parks during the Parade to help with traffic flow.
